ir. Ellen W.H. Sander

Ellen W.H. Sander (1960) graduated in architectural engineering from Delft University of Technology in 1988.

Ellen Sander started her career at Benthem Crouwel Architecten.  The office works with a solid team and with a tightly-knit network of specialised contractors. Sander’s motto, “architecture is not a way of building but a way of thinking”, is the guiding principle behind every project. Whether the project involves the exterior, the interior or a combination of both, Sander first looks at the essence, function and quality of the future structure before starting work on the design.

The strength of Sander lies in her unconventional approach, and her desire to innovate and push frontiers. Sander works in the Netherlands and abroad, and is known for her work on projects such as the revolutionary Media Plaza in Utrecht, the ‘Greenhouse Homes’ in Leidschenveen, the ‘Silo Homes’ in Hoofddorp and the celebrated Interpolis office (Tilburg/Zoetermeer). Sander’s projects have won several awards.
