"Architecture is not a way of building but a way of thinking”

Sander Architecten was founded in 1990. The office works in close collaboration with IAA Architects and with a tightly-knit network of specialised contractors. Sander’s motto, “architecture is not a way of building but a way of thinking”, is the guiding principle behind every project. Whether the project involves the exterior, the interior or a combination of both, Sander first looks at the essence, function and quality of the future structure before starting work on the design.

The strength of Sander lies in her unconventional approach, and her desire to innovate and push frontiers. Sander works in the Netherlands and abroad, and is known for the major renovation for the Dutch Ministry of Defence in The Hague. As supervisor and architect, she is also put the finishing touches to the interior of the new head office of Rabobank Nederland in Utrecht. The project attracts a lot of attention thanks to the quality of its design. She is also known for her  on projects such as the revolutionary Media Plaza in Utrecht, the ‘Greenhouse Homes’ in Leidschenveen, the ‘Silo Homes’ in Hoofddorp and the celebrated Interpolis office (Tilburg/Zoetermeer). Sander’s projects have won several awards.
